The Livermore Mom's Club offers its members a variety of activities:
LMC's monthly meetings, held the second Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m., are a great way to meet other members as well as learn more about our community and our roles as mothers. We frequently invite speakers to make presentations on such diverse subjects as pediatric dentistry, disaster preparedness, speech and occupational therapy, Livermore Area Recreation & Parks Department activities and foster parenting. Quarterly, we have a potluck meeting where members bring desserts or appetizers galore! Since we meet at a member's home each month, it makes for a casual, fun atmosphere. Join us for one meeting and you'll want to be there every month!
Each month we mail or email members (your choice!) a newsletter packed with information on club events, announcements, workshops, a page where you can place advertisements, and more. For privacy purposes, each emailed newsletter is password-protected, with the password sent in a separate email. Current and past newsletters, as well as a member directory, are available through the Members Only page.
There are various groups that meeting weekly or monthly. Some are for you and your kids, while others are just for us moms! Each group revolves around a particular activity, such as Playgroups, Book Club, Coffee Club and Scrapbooking Club. We're sure you can find a group that does something you love to do, so it's up to you to join with others who love to do it too.
Check out our currently available playgroups to see if one fits your schedule and children's ages. These are not the only playgroups we have -- you can contact the playgroup coordinator if you have a specific day and time in mind and she can help you find one. There are playgroups forming all the time!
Meals for Families with New Arrivals Our members generously volunteer to cook four meals per newborn for new moms or in times of need. This is a fabulous way to get involved and meet other members. There is a definite bond between our cooks and our new moms, so let us know if you want to cook for someone or need someone to cook for you. Email us at welcome@livermoremomsclub.com.
The way the co-op works is we have playgroups to get to know one another (and our kids!) so we feel comfortable leaving our kids with each other. No money is exchanged. You start with 10 hours (one of which goes to the administrator) and you sit for others and have others sit for you and exchange hours.
Quarterly, we have an organized event just for moms. Activities include dinner and a movie, bowling, ceramics, and pajama parties. It's a great stress reliever and a guaranteed great time with fellow LMC members. For more info, contact social@livermoremomsclub.com.
We also have a quarterly Couple's Night Out. In the past this has included a luau, Oktoberfest, Suds n' Spuds and Murder Mysteries. Each event is for couples only, though nursing infants are welcome. The activities are usually held at a member's house and are a great way to get your partner out for the evening. For more information, contact social@livermoremomsclub.com.
Club-Sponsored Family Activities We have family activities throughout the year that are sponsored by the club. Most notably is our annual picnic in September, the pumpkin patch outing (which usually includes a free pumpkin for your child as well as fun activities like feeding the farm animals and story time), Valentine's Day kids party, and the Easter Egg Hunt. LMC has created a Livermore Mom's Club discussion group where moms can exchange information and ask for help. You must be a member of LMC to join this group. Email livermoremoms@yahoogroups.com if you're a member who's interested in joining the fun.
