Becoming a Mom --and Knowing That You Are One!
Mother’s Day is arriving and I am reflecting on when I first became a mom and the one that I have grown into being. I always thought that you were a mom the minute you held your child in your arms for the first time and though you are, I think you really know you are a mom when a few other things happen. So enjoy these little humorous reflections and enjoy a wonderful Mother’s Day!
You know that you are a mom when….
• Your “must see” TV includes Barney, Sesame Street and Bob the
Builder.
• “Sleeping in” means that the time on the clock is 6:30 am.
• Your purse is replaced by a diaper bag and if overflowing with tissues and baby wipes!
• Your children are usually dressed better then you are!
• You are no longer called by your first name but rather , “ Brendan’s mom”
• You can change from playground clothes to night out on the town in ten minutes or less.
• Your makeup brushes are used by your children as pretend paint brushes in the bathroom and you laugh.
• You are a great multi-tasker -- talking on the phone and answering the door while holding a child on your hip.
• You can use the bathroom with three children in there with you, watching, and only two of the children are yours!
• You respond to the calling of “mom” no matter who is calling it!
• You willingly hug and kiss a sweat drenched, sticky fingered child.
• You discuss with another mom whom you have just met the diaper issues of your little one.
• You are overworked, overtired and underpaid but you would not trade being a mom for the entire world!
WISHING ALL THE MOMS A HAPPY AND RELAXING MOTHER’S DAY! YOU ARE A TRULY GREAT EXAMPLE TO YOUR CHILDREN!
